Only 19 hours left!

Hey Reader!

I began writing to you yesterday, April 27, and had to step away. What I'd hoped to share with you is this incredible content I also shared on my instagram (that's right - I'm instagramming)!

Here's what I shared: Planted some dwarf Bok Choy this weekend, and Little Lady and I keep peeking around the corner to see if it has sprouted yet. It hasn't, but we just keep peeking and singing The Seed Song... I can't wait to share this book with you!

I suppose I'm a bit impatient. Okay, okay - I'm extremely impatient. But seriously. Who doesn't want to see dwarf bok choy poking out of the soil? I didn't even know dwarf bok choy existed before this year. And this is how random my brain is: Even though it's technically dwarf bok choy, I have already taken to calling them "baby bok" when I speak to them, which has evolved into "the little chicks" in my home (because I actually say something less like "baby bok" and far more like "baby boooooooooooooook bok bok bok bok"). And yes, I know - baby chicks sound more like a "cheep" than a "bok," but you follow me, don't you?

Anyway, I posted the picture and words yesterday, expecting to finish my newsletter and thinking, "It's okay that I got pulled away from the newsletter - the baby bok won't sprout overnight. It'll be just as pertinent tomorrow."

Last evening, CW and I had the incredibly honor of beta reading a project that celebrates a child coming of age, graduating school, finding themselves ready (and so not ready) for life. It reminds us as parents to slow down, to participate in each moment of our kids' childhoods - that childhood isn't merely a time for fun and play, but for incredible growth and preparation for the purposes to which God has called us. It had me thinking about my nephew, who has just graduated college and is headed off to grad school - how we used to play together when he was Little Lady's age; how we loved drawing maps together and he would ask me questions like, "where will you put your trade routes?"; and how each one of those days with him during his childhood was precious and irreplaceable.

Each day, friend, is precious and irreplaceable.

I don't have to tell you what comes next, do I? I don't have to tell you what happened when I woke up this morning?

I don't have to tell you that Psalm 90:12 flooded my heart as I still thought about the importance of each day?

I don't have to tell you the first thing I saw as I stumbled into the kitchen to start my coffee?

Yeah.

The little chicks have appeared.

We have dwarf bok choy.

Life happens quickly. We don't always realize it in the moment, but sometimes it only takes one seed, pressing through the surface of the soil or one memory of your nephew asking you where you'll place your trade routes, to remember how quickly it changes. How quickly we grow. How quickly we turn to see the sun coming into view each morning and how quickly we turn to see it sinking into the horizon again each evening.

Today is a gift. It will pass as quickly as it arrived. And there's only 19 hours left of it. What will you do with it? Where will you put your trade routes?

Before I say farewell for April, I want to share a few notes:

  • A huge shout out to everyone who cast a The Seed Song font vote in March! As promised, everyone who voted was entered into The Seed Song Planting Party give-away, which we will spin and plan A, after a few more "help me" asks, and B, closer to release.
  • An enormous welcome to all our new subscribers! We are delighted to have you here and hope you'll jump right on in. This newsletter is for you - each one of you, every one of you - and I always love hearing from you.
  • And finally, this weekend, Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3, I'm running a free ebook promotion on A Sea of Lilacs. I'll be sharing the link on facebook and instagram as well as sending you a reminder here: If you haven't picked up a copy yet, I'd be delighted to get a free copy of the ebook into your library this weekend.

I think that's it for me.

Blessings from me and mine to you and yours.

Sarah
